WHO NEEDS THIS BOOK?
Federal Law requires that individuals receive certain information before
renovating pre-1978 housing and child care facilities.

CONTRACTORS who perform renovation, repairs, and painting jobs in pre-
1978 housing and child occupied facilities must, before beginning work,
provide owners, tenants, and child care facilities with a copy of this pamphlet. Contractors must document compliance with the pre-renovation
form found on the inside back cover of this pamphlet.

PROPERTY OWNERS of rental housing, and child-occupied facilities who
renovate, repair, or prepare sufaces for painting in pre-1978 rental housing
or space rented by child care facilities must, before beginning work,
provide tenants with a copy of this pamphlet. Owners of these rental properties
must document compliance with the pre-renovation form found on
the inside back cover of this pamphlet.
